At ValueQwest, we have developed a program to teach basics of Data Analytics through an innovative experiential program. We believe this would enable practitioners to quickly upskill themselves without taking too much time off from their day-to-day jobs – kind of like maintaining an airplane while in flight!   Gain the expertise to link business decisions directly to financial outcomes, evaluate and predict the financial impact of various choices, and harness the power of Excel for working with transaction-level data. Learn essential data analysis techniques to answer critical business questions confidently, supported by robust data insights. The first part of the program involves the participants attempting to transform a loss-making enterprise into a profitable one, by taking various supply chain decisions through a business simulation called The Fresh Connection (TFC). #Sustainability is an emerging domain, and decision makers often find it difficult to navigate this journey. There is an urgent need for building awareness, case for change, and capabilities for organizations to craft and achieve their sustainability ambitions. Our #sustainability program introduces participants to the basics of sustainable supply chains, covering core concepts and models. It delves into sustainability beyond carbon management, exploring the goals of People, Planet, and Prosperity within the 3P dimensions of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework. Additionally, it highlights the Sustainability Advantage, demonstrating how companies can achieve profitability while maintaining sustainability. Participants learn to navigate the complex trade-offs involved in balancing sustainability with core supply chain decisions. Our Building a Sustainable Business learning program addresses key questions related to achieving this transformation. At the heart of this program is The Triple Connection (TTC), a business simulation game developed in collaboration with our partner, Inchainge. We are happy to report that the webinar "From Awareness to Action: Crafting Sustainability Expertise", attracted a number of professionals and academicians. They were primarily interested in some of the innovations around designing and executing programs that will help craft the necessary expertise needed in organizations to run effective sustainability interventions in supply chains. Led by Dr Kaushik Ghatak, the panelists shared specific insights into: whether the push for sustainable supply chains is here to stay or not, the key challenges faced in running initiatives that prove to be eventually effective on the sustainability front while also not being a burden on the company's bottom line, the need to understand the system as a whole - including the tradeoffs and the alignment issues as complex supply chain systems add sustainability goals into the mix, the expertise gaps that we are currently facing especially in relation to the line managers responsible for decisions that affect the sustainability metrics for the supply chain, and, modern and effective approaches to bridge these gaps, including experiential learning, learning about system dynamics and effective goal setting. The participants had a lot of incisive questions that made the discussion a fairly interactive one. One of the key challenges highlighted was the need to get more information for Scope3 reporting and how to propagate the importance and need for that into the supplier networks of large companies. How can sustainability initiatives pay for themselves, and not be a burden they often are considered to be? How can sustainable supply chains reduce the cost of capital of operations or attract capital available to invest in sustainable companies? We believe that the key takeaways from the webinar were how experiential learning pedagogies can help busy professionals quickly ramp up their learning, integrate, and apply their learnings onto their jobs. Also, that when one considers adding sustainability as a key performance driver for the supply chain (in addition to capacity, efficiency, cost, resilience, agility, and similar traditional drivers), it is all the more important that professionals understand system interactions across functions, trade-offs, and make data driven decisions based on analysis that shows the impact of these trade-offs. Timely communication, collaboration, and transparency are critical, and traditional supply chains need to learn to adapt to these changes and win in the market place. We thank all the panelists who provided perspectives from Europe, Singapore and India, as well as the participants who joined in amidst their busy schedules. We look forward to hosting many such interesting and thoughtful webinars. See you in our next webinar!
