As a dental practice, we aim to prioritise not only the well-being of our patients but also the health of our dedicated dentists. It's crucial to address preventable issues that can impact both the sustainability and longevity of our profession. Research reveals alarming statistics: 33% to 87% of dentists experience musculoskeletal pain and/or musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) affecting their back, neck, and shoulders. In a 2014 study published in the International Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry (IJCPD), musculoskeletal disorders emerged as the leading cause of early career termination among dentists, accounting for a substantial 29.5% of cases. So, what can we do to support our dental professionals and ensure their long and prosperous careers? One valuable solution is the use of loupes.
