Nexus Surgical is pleased to announce the addition of Dr Yongxian Thng. He has joined Team Nexus with effect from 1st March 2024. Dr Thng Yongxian is a Hepatopancreatobiliary and General Surgeon.He previously served as a Consultant Surgeon in Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, National University Health System. As the clinical lead of the hepatopancreatobiliary division, he established the minimally invasive hepatopancreatobiliary surgical program in his hospital.   After his training at National University Hospital, he obtained fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (FRCS) and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS). He pursued his subspecialty training in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery at Singapore General Hospital, followed by a clinical fellowship in minimally invasive hepatopancreatobiliary surgery at Seoul National University Hospital Bundang. Dr Thng has performed over 6000 surgical procedures and was the lead surgeon for his hospital in laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy and extended liver resections. He was recognised for his surgeries and had the opportunity to present his surgical videos at International conferences. Dr Thng brings depth and energy to the HPB section of Nexus Surgical.

Dr Bin Chet Toh has joined Team Nexus since 2nd Jan 2024. We would like to formally introduce him. Dr Toh Bin Chet now serves as a Senior Consultant General Surgeon at Nexus Surgical Associates Pte. Ltd.. Prior to his current appointment, he was a senior consultant at Sengkang General Hospital. His subspecialties are upper gastrointestinal surgery, bariatric weight loss and metabolic endoscopic surgery, and advanced endoscopy. He treats general surgical conditions, hernias, gallbladder stones, gastroesophageal reflux, upper gastrointestinal (stomach and oesophagus) cancer and bariatric metabolic disorders. He is skilled in minimally invasive surgery and advanced endoscopy including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with stenting/spyglass. Dr Toh was part of the pioneer team of specialists who set up general surgery, upper gastrointestinal and bariatric services at Sengkang General Hospital and is still a visiting consultant there. He graduated from the University of Dundee, UK and later became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award and completed his clinical fellowship at Cambridge University Addenbrooke’s Hospital, UK. He also completed a surgical clinical observership at the University of Strasbourg, France. Prior to his overseas fellowship, he had a 2-year clinical fellowship experience in advanced minimally invasive upper gastrointestinal and bariatric metabolic surgery at Singapore General Hospital, National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. In addition, he furthered his surgical skills through masterclasses at the National Cancer Centre, South Korea for gastric cancer, Gemelli University Hospital, Italy for bariatric endoscopic procedures and Bangkok Rajavithi Hospital, Thailand for advanced endoscopy and ERCP. Besides his clinical works, Dr Toh was a clinical assistant professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, adjunct lecturer at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and clinical lecturer at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He is also an instructor for the Advanced Trauma Life Support course under the American College of Surgeons. He is also active in research and has authored several scientific publications as well as presenting frequently at international surgical conferences. He was previously the honorary treasurer and executive member of The Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of Singapore.
