At IIX, empowering #women is at the core of what we do, transforming lives and making #impact, especially through the Women’s Livelihood Bond™ (WLB) Series. The WLB Series has impacted many women across Africa. Take Eugene as an example. Eugene tends to her 5-acre maize farm in the heart of Kiambu County, Kenya. Through the WLB Series, she was able to invest in plowing and fertilizing her land, boosting crop yield. Additionally, she partnered with an off-taker partner of the portfolio company, who ensured timely and competitive payment for her produce. She participates in training sessions offered by the company every month, covering #diverse topics like planting techniques, #financialplanning, fertilizer use, and the importance of saving. These sessions equip her with the knowledge and skills necessary to increase productivity and income, make informed decisions for her farm, and promote #sustainable agricultural practices that mitigate #climatechange. Her monthly income has now surged, enabling her to save over a third of her earnings, and enhancing her #financialstability and #resilience. The Nigerian off-grid market has transitioned from a nascent to an emerging sector, fueled by a vast untapped solar energy potential. With a soaring demand for electricity and insufficient installed capacity, the sector is poised to address an energy access gap affecting approximately 75% of Nigerians currently unserved or underserved by the national grid. Enter SOSAI Renewable Energies Company ("Sosai"), a company dedicated to deploying renewable energy technologies across rural northern Nigeria. Through initiatives like solar home units, solar mini grids, and solar solutions for productive use, Sosai is actively providing off-grid energy solutions to communities and businesses in the region. Bridging Gaps Between Capital and Innovation in the Pacific Reflecting on our participation in the Pacific RISE program, seeing the benchmarks we set for community-centered, #sustainable investment is inspiring. Here’s what we achieved and the lessons we carry forward: - Comprehensive Field Assessments in Fiji: Evaluated investment readiness and identified key barriers to accessing #capital, with a strong focus on supporting women-led enterprises. - Strategic Investor Engagements: Facilitated crucial introductions between enterprises and our extensive network of over 1,000 mission-aligned investors. - Tailored Impact Assessments: Utilized IIX’s proprietary Impact Assessment methodology, focusing on outcomes that advance #genderequality and sustainable economic growth. - Impressive Beneficiary Impact: Directly impacted 3,000 people, including a substantial 2,400 women, underlining our commitment to advancing gender equality. These reflections not only celebrate our past achievements but also guide our future initiatives as we aim to build more #inclusive and #resilient economies.

The annual production of plastic bottles is immense—enough to circle the Earth and reach the Moon, creating a line over 477,000 miles long. This production significantly impacts the environment, contributing to #climatechange. For instance, producing one ton of traditional Polypropylene (PP) plastic releases about 1.57 tons of CO2, according to a report by the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL). In response, AirX Carbon is pioneering a #sustainable alternative in plastic production. Their innovative plant-based PP, made from sustainable coffee residues, blends coffee grounds with agricultural by-products and recycled plastic to offer a more sustainable option than conventional PP. AirX's manufacturing process leverages #organic waste to create biomaterials, which reduces energy use and chemical inputs significantly. This approach not only minimizes CO2 emissions but also utilizes the CO2 absorbed by plants, making it a greener alternative in the industry.
