How do you create "possibility thinking" in your team? One way that has worked well in our consulting projects is to utilise the “miracle” question to find out what is your team’s ideal change outcome without any operational issues holding you back. This gives you clues on what needs to be done for change to be successfully implemented and helps people who are stuck in their current way of thinking. When we explore what's desired and how things will serve our stakeholders differently, it opens up new ways of doing things. The conversation with team members is optimistic, rather than a sense of heaviness. Here's a real example: A local exchange had to build a platform fast with a limited budget. They had a tight timeline to integrate legacy systems into the new platform. Instead of focusing on potential issues and whining about the lack of resources, they used the miracle question: How this new change should look to their stakeholders and identified specific small steps to make it happen. This led to them creating short sprint sessions every week to show their internal stakeholders how the new user experience will be. It was a success! Many of their stakeholders gave consistent feedback so that they did not need to make any major rework, increased their speed of delivery and were able to consistently meet project deadlines. And this is why I am excited about what we do with clients, to facilitate a process to actually deliver real solutions and results. To AI or not to AI, that is the question. Recently, I have been noticing many AI posts and articles starting to emerge on Linkedin. Some people have very little activity on Linkedin and all of a sudden, there is a barrage of content that is written with a high degree of sophistication. You can obviously see that the language used is not consistent with a person's style. Moreover, AI has a way of generating fluff when what a reader wants is conciseness. Here's an example of what I wrote: Consultants need to ensure that the training leads to results and real business outcomes. Here is what AI wrote for me: You need a strategic focus on sustainability and comprehensive planning. By digging deep into the core issues and aligning with the organization's long-term objectives, consultants can create impactful strategies that stand the test of time. It’s about understanding that true value comes from nurturing growth, driving continuous improvement, and adapting to the ever-evolving business landscape. I'm all for the usage of AI at work. It helps me rewrite what I have in a better way and also provides certain points that I have not considered. But we need to work with AI, not let AI do the work for us.
