On 23 May, 35 passionate volunteers from across Singapore’s power industry came together for the National Electricity Market of Singapore (NEMS) Charity Outing 2025 — a heartwarming tradition that continues to grow stronger each year. This year’s outing brought smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories as volunteers and children explored the wonders of Bird Paradise, with the penguins being a crowd favourite. Since 2006, NEMS market participants have proudly supported Child at Street 11, a dedicated non-profit organisation that empowers vulnerable children in Ang Mo Kio through education and care. We are grateful for the continued support from our industry partners and look forward to many more years of meaningful collaboration with Child at Street 11.   #NEMS #BirdParadise #ChildAtStreet11 #GivingBack #CSR

Our two beneficiaries – the children of TOUCH Community Services’ TOUCH Young Arrows@Sembawang and national para badminton player Tay Wei Ming – came together for a badminton session at Yishun ActiveSG Sports Hall on 31 May. For some of the children, this was the first time they picked up a badminton racket, and what better way to start than to receive guidance from an accomplished player like Wei Ming. It was a great way to spend the weekend participating in a healthy and fun activity. We are grateful to Wei Ming for his time. We take this opportunity to wish him the very best as he heads to Thailand for two tournaments - Thailand Para Badminton International 2025 and Asia Para Badminton Championships 2025. #senokoenergy #corporatesocialresponsibility #CSR #community

  • We are honoured to receive the Plaque of Commendation (Gold) Award at this year’s National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) May Day Awards in recognition of our continued efforts to uplift the wages, welfare and work prospects of our employees, who remain the backbone of Senoko Energy.   This year’s ceremony, which was held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, was made even more special as our very own Aidil Lim (Team Leader in Operations – Power Plant) has been awarded the Model Worker Award as an acknowledgement of his exceptional dedication and leadership. Aidil (seen in the photo with Senoko Energy's President & CEO Thiraviam Jothilingam) has inspired a culture of innovation and excellence across the organisation and exemplify the best of what we stand for.   As we look ahead, we will continue to work with NTUC, in particular the Union of Power and Gas Employees, to advance workforce excellence and empower our employees to drive progress in Singapore’s energy sector. #senokoenergy #essentialservices #NTUCMayDayAwrds #EveryWorkerMatters

https://lnkd.in/g39YnPct Besides nuclear as a potential option, renewable energy imports will likely play a key role in Singapore's energy mix by 2050, according to Thiraviam Jothilingam, Senoko Energy's President & CEO. Jothi also highlighted that Combined Cycle Gas Turbines will still have their place with green fuels and carbon capture. Meeting our Net Zero target by 2050 will necessitate bold ideas, innovation and collaboration across industries and borders. It's a mammoth challenge that can only succeed if various stakeholders work together. #senokoenergy #essentialservices #SIEW2025 #sustainability #RenewableEnergy #greenenergy

  • One of Senoko Energy’s stalwarts has called time on his career following 51 years of faithful and illustrious service.   Lau Yong Nguan, a Team Leaders of Senoko Energy’s Engineering & Maintenance, & Operations Division, joined the power generator after completing his “O” Levels. He credits the camaraderie he shares with his colleagues, the guidance and care of his supervisors as well as the purpose of being involved in an essential service that keep him at Senoko Energy all these years.   “Being on shifts was a challenge at first, but I gradually adjusted my life around it,” Yong Nguan recalls. “While there was some impact on my social life, I gained strong friendships with my colleagues, whom I now consider as part of my family.”   He is also grateful to Senoko Energy for the progress he made personally and professionally. Over the years, Yong Nguan took up various courses, eventually attaining a Diploma. His learning journey is not likely to end as one of his main plans after his retirement is to tap SkillsFuture funding to take up courses on the latest technology. “I am not tech savvy, it’s time to catch up,” he said. He also plans to travel, with China being one of the countries he hopes to visit.   “Yong Nguan is a highly dependable, meticulous and trustworthy,” said Lee Hong Hong, Head of Operations at Senoko Energy. “Whenever he is given a task, he always relishes the challenge and will commit himself wholeheartedly. It is no surprise that he is extremely well liked and respected by both his teammates and supervisors alike.”   We thank Yong Nguan for his years of service and contributions to Senoko Energy, and we wish him very best in his retirement. #senokoenergy #essentialservice #longservice #energymarket

  • Is hydrogen the answer to cleaner power generation? That’s the topic of discussion with Dr Andrew Dicks at a Hydrogen Masterclass held at Senoko Energy. Dr Dicks has than 30 years’ experience in the UK gas industry, primarily in R&D where his skills as a project leader led to the establishment of one of Europe’s foremost research fuel cell technology teams. He is the co-author of Fuel Cell Systems Explained, a widely-acclaimed textbook published by Wiley that has been translated into both Japanese and Chinese. Currently residing in Brisbane, Australia, Dr Dicks has undertaken many reviews of energy research programs, institutes and ventures, including due diligence for funding and government agencies as far afield as Australia, Japan, Canada and Sweden. At the Masterclass, Dr Dicks dwelt on hydrogen and its safety issues; methods of generating hydrogen, its storage and transport; utilisation of hydrogen, fuel cells, turbines and other technologies; and hydrogen’s economics and worldwide industry status. While the widespread use of hydrogen in power generation may not be feasible at this point, due mainly to considerations of safety and cost, it is one potential option that is worth exploring as we seek to lower the energy sector's carbon footprint. #senokoenergy #essentialservices #sustainability #greenenergy #energymarket

Some members of Senoko Energy’s Executive Management Team, together with Chairman Masashi Yoshikura, spent an evening on Mar 11 to observe Iftar with our Muslim colleagues. Addressing those in attendance, President & CEO Thiraviam Jothilingam lauded our Muslim colleagues for maintaining their commitment to work and keeping up their usual high standards even while fasting. He also reminded all employees to be always mindful of safety, their personal wellbeing and the need to constantly take care and look out for each other. Beyond sharing a meal, the occasion was marked by lots of fun and laughter and the opportunity to show our appreciation to our Muslim colleagues for their resilience and discipline during Ramadan. #senokoenergy #ramadan
