[IBF Golden Jubilee ITE Scholarship] Spearheaded by IBFSG - The Institute of Banking & Finance Singapore to mark its Golden Jubilee year, the IBF ITE #Scholarship was launched today with much fanfare. Key representatives from 13 participating financial institutions, including our Managing Director, Mr Kensuke Unoki, were present at the ITE College East this morning to sign the Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) for this commendable initiative. Through this first-of-its-kind industry scholarship, eligible ITE students will receive study awards and importantly, gain internship opportunities and exposure to the financial sector with participating FIs. Following the launch event, we were honoured to share a moment with Guest-of-Honour, Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Trade and Industry and Deputy Chairman of MAS, at the industry showcase. To cap off the day, we were pleasantly surprised by the huge turnout and interest at our booth. Many ITE students came by to enquire about career opportunities in the general insurance sector while enjoying a complimentary ice cream treat from us! #YoungTalent #CareerOpportunities #GeneralInsurance

✨At the May Day Awards 2024, we are most happy to congratulate our Union Branch Chair Johnny Ngan on being conferred the Comrade of Labour Award. In his quiet and unassuming way, Johnny has been working collaboratively with the Company since 2005 in advocating the welfare and development of employees. To our employees, Brother Johnny is an ever steady friend and listening ear in their time of need. An avid photographer, Johnny is often found capturing special moments celebrating our employees. Johnny has been a Singapore Insurance Employees’ Union member since 2005. Shortly after, he was elected to the Executive Council and in 2022, stepped up to the post of 2nd Assistant General Treasurer. At MSIG Singapore, we are a strong advocate of the #uniquelySingapore government-employer-union #Tripartism that forms the cornerstone of collaboration for fair employment practices and continual capabilities upgrading of workers. We are pleased to have Johnny recognised for his efforts in tripartitism, and thank him for his role in fostering strong labour-management relations we have built up over the years. Congratulations, Johnny! ✨ [Comrade of Labour "Conferred on serving trade unionists who have made significant contributions to their unions, for more than five years, and are still active in their Executive Committees."]

What an enriching session it was at the 17th Asia Insurance CFO Summit! The two-day event brought together industry experts and leaders in the insurance industry as they discussed and debated important issues that #CFOs faced. Meaningful conversations flowed and views were exchanged covering topics such as the impact of #IFRS17, #GenAI, the role of CFOs in #Cybersecurity and #ESG investing amongst others. Our SVP for Finance, Ker Ching Chock, were amongst the notable speakers. She covered extensively on Cost Optimisation as a more strategic and holistic approach that accounts for the long-term, sustainable growth of the business. Here are some of the key highlights of her sharing: + When devising a cost optimisation strategy, it helps to keep in mind these five key principles - transparency, simplicity, consistency, sustainable and measurable. + Just as it is important to align cost optimisation initiatives to the business strategy, setting the right benchmarks is pertinent for the business to effectively address and measure cost efficiencies. + A sustainable financial health hinges on many other factors. Beyond cost optimisation strategy, CFOs are also growth champions, steering the company in its business strategy covering operational efficiency, resource optimisation, technology investment and product distribution. + Look beyond internal cost structure. Employ levers that can have the greatest impact and advance the cost optimisation strategy for the business. These can come from adoption of technology to automate processes, third party costs and commission arrangements. + The success of the strategy boils down essentially to action and empowerment. Celebrating small wins can make all the difference. Many thanks to Asia Insurance Review for the event invitation and for paving the way for many more thoughtful discussions to come! #AIRcfo #CFOSummit

In celebration of #EarthDay this year, we visited City Sprouts urban farm over the weekend and invited our colleagues' families and friends along. As city dwellers, we were fascinated with the sustainable farming practices that are taking root in the urban landscape, and aligning with Singapore’s 30 by 30 food security goals. Our time at the urban farm was delightful. We delved into a microgreens workshop, getting our hands dirty while learning about ways to reduce our carbon footprint through mindful food choices. While Singapore is undoubtedly a food haven, let us also strive to transform it into a green haven, fostering a more climate-conscious future! 🌿🌏 #earthday #MSIGforSustainability

Insurance brokers as trusted advisors play a pivotal role in helping clients to navigate the ever-evolving landscape. With this year’s theme ‘Shaping the New Age Modern Broker’ in mind, our head of Corporate Distribution, Kenny Yap (@Yap Kenny) shared his perspectives at the 12th Asia Insurance Broker’s Summit held in Singapore this week:   + Compared to 20 years ago, the risk environment has become increasingly volatile. Property and Marine Hull insurance rates have gone up, compounded by interest rates hike, reduced reinsurance capacity in the region, and increased costs due to the inflationary environment.   + Outlook for the insurance sector is expected to stay flat or subdued amidst a tighter global market and slow recovery of China’s post pandemic economy.   + As clients undergo a metamorphosis in their buying habits, opening to new solutions like pay-per-use or on demand services, brokers need to evolve their services to align to the dynamic needs of the new-age clients.   + To thrive in the next decade and beyond, both insurers and brokers need to leverage technology and data analytics to drive new value propositions. The conceptualisation of the Freight Return Insurance in the age of rising e-commerce demonstrated this point. To this day, Freight Return Insurance has surpassed 80 billion yuan and is touted to continue expanding beyond the Asian region.   + Other emerging trends that could impact the industry in time to come would be the adoption of AI in the insurance value chain, pay-per-use travel insurance, parametric insurance, blockchain for marine cargo claims settlement, and de-bundling amongst others.   Congratulations to Asia Insurance Review for yet another successful event where industry leaders and experts came together to share insights and chart the course for the future!   #AIRbrokers #insurancebrokers #riskmanagement

Protecting our planet’s future is a core part of MSIG’s mission. 🌍🌱   In a recent survey that we conducted online, these were some of the public perceptions we gathered:   🌍 Two-thirds of the survey respondents are concerned with climate change. 🌍83% or 4 out of 5 respondents believe climate change will affect their lifestyle within the next decade. 🌍However, more than one-third find it a challenge to adopt sustainable lifestyle citing inconvenience as a key reason. Other obstacles include cost (29%), lack of information (15%), and a belief that individual efforts are inconsequential (12%). 🌍39% or 2 out of 5 respondents make a conscious effort to live a sustainable lifestyle and encourage others within their circles to do so. 🌍23% embrace sustainability out of cost considerations. 🌍17% consider themselves as strong advocates of sustainability, driven by the belief that their current actions have long-term implications for future generations. Gen X and Baby Boomers’ advocacy were the highest here. 🌍Majority practise eco-friendly actions in their daily living. Most common ones are reducing unnecessary consumption and waste, limiting single-use plastics and packaging, and opting for green commutes. If you are interested to learn more about this survey, head over to our website for a snapshot of the findings 📊🌿 https://lnkd.in/g2fR-Wv5 #sustainabilitysurvey #climatechange #MSIGforSustainability
